Sunday Service on August 16 moved to Longview Lake

Join us this Sunday, August 16, as we move our Sunday Evening “CONNECT” service from 1st Methodist Church to Longview Lake.  We will be meeting at 5 PM at Shelter #12 at to celebrate baptisms and have a party.  (Please scroll down for directions and the link to get a map.)

At the Raytown Vineyard Church, we love to baptize!

Here are some of the “basics” that form our foundation of understanding about baptism:

  • Baptism is important because Jesus public ministry was kicked off with his baptism.
  • The final instructions Jesus gave included the charge to baptize future followers.
  • Baptism is an outward and physical expression of the internal and spiritual action of choosing to follow Jesus.
  • We love to baptize people by immersing them fully into the water.  This symbolizes Jesus’ complete washing of our sin and guilt, and it also symbolizes the opportunity for our entire life to be renewed in Christ as we put our old self to death and rise out of the water as a new person.
  • We love to do public baptisms to celebrate this important act as a church community, and to serve as a witness to anyone observing the baptism.

Our Bible reading for the challenging message this week comes from Mark 1:1-11.  If you would like to take a sneak peak at the passage, click here.

Following our worship service, we are taking a short walk/drive down to the beach to actually do our baptisms.  Then, we will be enjoying a cookout together!  If you would like to bring a side dish or dessert to share, we will be providing everything else for dinner.

Please make yourself at home, and bring a friend.  The more the merrier!
