Have you ever found it ironic that even in a church setting, prayer seems to easily become an afterthought, a ceremony, or even a way to functionally delineate the official beginning and end of a church event?
From the very beginning, we have believed that the Raytown Vineyard Church has been called to be a Praying Church. We have the impression that either we will become a church that prays, or we will stop being a church.
In 2010, we will be issuing an invitation to each person connected to the Raytown Vineyard to help us in our passionate plea to become a Praying Church.
On Sunday night, we will be opening the Bible and looking at 2 Corinthians 5:1-10. We will be asking God to help us become a Praying Church by inviting folks to join in a variety of prayer activities.
In every case, becoming a Praying Church will require that we learn more clearly than ever how to be a people who “walk by faith, and not by sight”. Isn’t that always what it means to follow Jesus?
