Community: God’s Plan for Facing Tough Times

July 11, 2010

If there is one thing that can be surprising about this Christian life, it is the reality of the message that Jesus speaks and Paul repeats that “we must suffer many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God”.  (Acts 14:22)

Whether the challenges of being a Christian include brutal religious persecution, as the entire early church (including Paul) experienced, or whether those hardships are less violent, there is one thing for sure.  The closer we are following Jesus, the clearer we find our way challenging.

As we cry out to God, oftentimes we find help coming from an unlikely source: the community right around us.  And really the whole point is this– now is the time to invest in those relationships.

Many of us are going through some pretty tough things now.  Its a good time to strengthen the connections between us.  To reach out a hand and grow in our love and trust.

Come and join us on Sunday at 5 PM as we CONNECT in shared space at 5413 Blue Ridge Cutoff, and bring a message called “Community: God’s Plan for Facing Tough Times”.

Feel free to take a “sneak peek” at the Scripture passage for the week.

God Loves America!

July 4, 2010

The 4th of July is a wonderful time for us to pause and celebrate a nation’s birthday. Along with other parts of the celebration, fireworks typically are central, as their sights, sounds, and even smells will thrill us and create incredible memories.  It is a blessing for our country to pause from its current challenges and celebrate our many blessings as we enjoy the pageantry of colorful light and color filled skies in thousands of communities all across the land.

As awesome as these displays will be, there is a force that God has in mind for this country that is even more powerful and long-lasting.  It is the power of His love.

Come and join us on Sunday at 5 PM as we CONNECT in shared space at 5413 Blue Ridge Cutoff, and bring a message called “God Loves America!”.

Feel free to take a “sneak peek” at the Scripture passage for the week.

Please join us immediately afterwards, as we caravan to the River Community Poolto celebrate a baptism, Pool Party, and a cookout.
