Our Motivation to Become a Praying Church

“I will bring them to my holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in my house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because my Temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations.”   Isaiah 56:7 (New Living Translation)

We are a praying that God would make the Raytown Vineyard a Praying Church in 2010.

Here’s why:

1)  We believe that while every church has a general mission to bring the reality of Jesus Christ to the community, we also believe that God calls each church to focus on specific areas of ministry. We have had an impression all along that the Raytown Vineyard Church has been called to be a praying church.  And as strong as this comment sounds, we believe that “either we will be a church that prays, or we will not be a church.”

2)  We believe that God is instructing us to “fill the church with Prayer”.  At its most basic level, this means that each time we meet, we are called to fill our gatherings with prayer.  But we also believe this means that for our church, our most productive strategy for growth will be prayer.

3)  We believe that God may be calling us to a unique role in participating with an actual “Prayer Movement” that we see taking place in the greater Raytown community, the Kansas City region, and beyond.
