We are a praying that God would make the Raytown Vineyard a Praying Church in 2010.

Here’s why:

1)  We believe that while every church has a general mission to bring the reality of Jesus Christ to the community, we also believe that God calls each church to focus on specific areas of ministry. We have had an impression all along that the Raytown Vineyard Church has been called to be a praying church.  And as strong as this comment sounds, we believe that “either we will be a church that prays, or we will not be a church.”

2)  We believe that God is instructing us to “fill the church with Prayer”.  At its most basic level, this means that each time we meet, we are called to fill our gatherings with prayer.  But we also believe this means that for our church, our most productive strategy for growth will be prayer.

3)  We believe that God may be calling us to a unique role in participating with an actual “Prayer Movement” that we see taking place in the greater Raytown community, the Kansas City region, and beyond.

In response to these motives, we are issuing this 2010 Prayer Invitation to members of our Congregation, friends and family, and anyone else around the World who feels called to join us.  We are inviting people to prayerfully consider participating in any or all of the following seven activities:

  • Joining the Raytown Vineyard Church Intercessory Prayer Team
  • Maintaining an Unchurched Prayer Hotlist
  • Reading one Psalm each day
  • Taking the 2010 Pray Raytown Challenge—Praying 20 minutes each week for Raytown, and 10 minutes each week for either the Raytown Vineyard Church, or another church in the greater Raytown community.
  • Budgeting a financial investment in prayer
  • Fasting and Praying on Mondays
  • Praying God’s leading on cheerfully giving financially to the Raytown Vineyard Church

Last Sunday, we rolled out this invitation, and many people have already responded.  Over the next few days, we will be adding more details to the Invitation here on our website.  We will also be continuing to invite people to join in, whether members of the Raytown Vineyard Church, another church, or no church at all.   Would you consider praying with us?
