Sharing our God Stories

May 30, 2012

This Summer, we will be taking some time at Friday Night Home Group to share our God stories with one another.

In the Book of Acts, nearly every recorded evangelistic conversation began with “what Jesus did in my life”.  As we are exploring how the early church did things, we have the opportunity to try out one of their primary methods.  Every God story is a miracle that will increase our faith and hope.

Sharing our God Stories will also give us the opportunity to understand one another better, and to gain futher insight into everyone’s strengths and dreams.

Our volunteers so far for this Summer are:

Friday June 1–Wilburn

Friday, June 8–Crystal

Friday, June 15–Liza

Friday, June 29–Donna

Friday, July 6–Michelle

Friday, July 13–Jon & Lauren

Friday, July 20–No Home Group

Friday, July 27–Carole

Friday, August 3–Marjorie

If you are interested in sharing your God story, please let Tim know.

Friday Night Home Group meets at the Truesdales. Snacks at 7, and Worship starts at 7:30.

Need more information, including directions to the Truesdale’s: send a note here.

God’s Heart for Government Officials

September 22, 2011

How does God feel about government?

Is government a demonic conspiracy, a necessary evil, or an institution that was created to bring God glory–both now and in the future?

We will touch on that a little bit this Sunday in our discussion about the account in the Book of Acts regarding the Ethiopian Eunuch.

But mostly, we will talk about God’s heart for government officials.

Throughout the Old Testament, it turns out that many of the heroes of the faith actually had their biggest spiritual impacts while working in the government profession:  including Joseph, David, Daniel, Nehemiah, and Esther.

It will be interesting to keep that in mind as we are reflecting on the account of the early church in the Book of Acts.  This Sunday, we see the first account of God’s dealings with a govenment official in the newly born church.

Read it ahead of time for yourself. I think you will find that Acts 8:26-40, which will be the centerpiece for our discussion, is a beautiful story about God’s love for a government official, and the opportunity the man Philip had to be a key instrument in communicating God’s love to him.

Come and join us on Sunday at 5 PM as we CONNECT in shared space at 5413 Blue Ridge Cutoff, as we share a Sermon called “God’s Heart for Government Officials”.

Evangelism is Introducing People to Jesus.

May 16, 2010

To be perfectly honest, many of us see Evangelism as a duty, an unmet need, even an area of unsuccessful personal experience.  Even if we are familiar with the Bible, we may not especially see Evangelism as a “gift”.

Over the next two weeks, we will be comparing God’s role in Evangelism with our role.  We will be answering these questions and more:

  • What is God’s heart for Evangelism?
  • What “counts” in Evangelism?
  • Are you serious, does God really want me to do Evangelism, doesn’t He have a better plan to reach the World?
  • How does a “Praying Church” do Evangelism?
  • What will Evangelism cost me?
  • How can I get started?

Come and join us on Sunday at 5 PM as we CONNECT in shared space at 5413 Blue Ridge Cutoff, and bring a message on “Evangelism: Following the Spirit”.

Feel free to take a “sneak peek” at the Scripture passage.
